The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) is responsible for the efficient, resource-conserving and sustainable implementation of infrastructure measures in the port. It is the point of contact for questions relating to water and landside infrastructure, the safety and ease of shipping traffic, port railway facilities, real estate management and the economic framework conditions.
With a view to the future of the Port of Hamburg, the HPA is looking for innovative approaches to sustainably exploit its growth potential and strengthen its international position in the long term.

The HPA was looking for a way to obtain an overview of the entire software and hardware inventory as well as previous and future license purchases. This should enable the HPA to respond proactively and optimally to future requirements. This also included the process and lifecycle structures, which were to be analyzed and optimized. In addition, Snow Software's existing SAM tool was to be used more effectively to generate more value and intelligence.
Our client decided to implement the license management program and sought comprehensive advice from our ITAM, SAM and licensing specialists. Softline's vendor independence, trusting cooperation and innovative approach in previous projects were decisive factors in this decision.
The extensive SAM project resulted in the successful implementation of a full license health check for Microsoft. The collaboration between HPA, Softline and Microsoft created transparency and compliance for the manufacturer's products. The implementation of the license management program also identified potential additional expenditure, which enabled the HPA to achieve six-figure cost savings. The HPA therefore decided to work with Softline on a permanent basis. We continuously support them in the day-to-day business of license management, in maintaining license purchases in the SAM tool and in answering license questions.
